1972 BMW 3.0 CSi & 1987 BMW M6 by Ronnie Fieg

Kithは15周年を記念し、BMWとの継続的なパートナーシップの第4章となるコラボレーションを発表します。今回のコレクションでは、アパレルやアクセサリーに加え、Ronnie Fiegが手掛けた1972年式BMW 3.0 CSiと1987年式BMW M6 E24のビスポークモデルも登場します。

これまで4つのチャプターを通して、KithとBMWは、BMWを象徴するアーカイブに敬意を表しながら、それぞれの時代を彩ってきたカラーを軸にストーリーを紡いできました。これまでのコラボレーションでは、M3 E30を象徴する「Cinnabar Red」、Kith によって生み出された 「Vitality Green」、希少性の高い「Techno Violet」を採用し、そして今回は、BMWファンからも高い評価を受ける「Inka Orange」が登場します。Inka Orangeは、1971年に02 Seriesに初めて採用され、1970年代初頭、BMWがスポーティなブランドとして成長していく時代を象徴するカラーとなりました。当初は、悪天候時の視認性を高めるために生み出された鮮やかなカラーでしたが、BMWが世界を代表するパフォーマンスブランドへと進化していく中で、大きく刷新されたボディプロポーションを際立たせるのに最適なカラーとなりました。時代とともに徐々に姿を消していったInka Orangeですが、BMWの歴史を語るうえで欠かせないカラーのひとつであり、現在では世界中のコレクターから特別な価値を持つカラーとして高く評価されています。

この象徴的なカラーへのオマージュとして、Ronnie FiegはInka Orangeと深い結びつきを持つ3.0 CSiをベースに、世界に一台だけのビスポークモデルをデザインしました。1972年式BMW 3.0 CSiをベースに、FiegとBMWはフレームから完全に車体を分解して行うフルレストアを実施。ボディは地金が露出するまで塗装を剥離したうえでKTL処理を施し、再塗装しました。車両は、BMWのさまざまなアーカイブから調達したオリジナルパーツを使用し、細部まで丹念に再構築されています。M30 Big Sixエンジン、トランスミッション、リアアクスル、サスペンション、ブレーキなど、各部にオリジナルのコンポーネントを採用しています。カスタム仕様のキャラメルレザーを用いたインテリアには、随所にKithモノグラムのエンボス加工を施し、完全にレストアされた計器類とウッドトリムを組み合わせています。

1975年に3.0 CSiのE9シャシーの生産が終了すると、BMWはE24 6 Seriesを発表しました。3.0 CSiの直系の後継モデルへのオマージュとして、Ronnie Fiegは1987年式BMW M6 E24についても、世界に一台だけのビスポークモデルをデザインしました。BMWを代表するグランドツアラーの2世代をつなぐ存在として、このモデルにも象徴的なInka Orangeのカラーを採用。M6には、車本来の個性を残しながら、Kithのデザインディテールとさりげない現代的なアレンジを取り入れた、フルレストアが施されました。3.0 CSiと同様に、M6のボディも地金が露出するまで塗装を剥離し、S38直列6気筒エンジン、Getrag 5速マニュアルトランスミッション、ディファレンシャル、サスペンション、ブレーキ、OEM BBS Style 5ホイールなどを含む各部を完全にレストアしました。インテリアもこのカラーストーリーを引き継ぎ、キャラメルレザーで仕上げるとともに、全体にKithモノグラムのエンボス加工を施しています。

この2台のビスポークモデルは、KithとBMWが紡いできたカラーストーリーの新たな章を象徴するとともに、今回のコレクション全体の中心的なインスピレーションとなっています。

As part of Kith’s 15th anniversary celebration, the brand reunites with BMW for the fourth chapter of their ongoing partnership to create a multifaceted collection of apparel, accessories, and bespoke automobiles, including Ronnie Fieg’s 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi and 1987 BMW M6 E24.

Across each of their four chapters, Kith and BMW have told a color story rooted in celebrating the iconic automotive brand’s archive. Their collaborative palette includes the M3 E30’s signature Cinnabar Red, the Kith-developed Vitality Green, the elusive Techno Violet, and now the enthusiast-heralded Inka Orange. Originally introduced in 1971 on the 02 Series, Inka Orange became the defining color of BMW’s formative sporting years in the early 1970s. Initially created as a high-visibility color for inclement conditions, the vibrant hue became the perfect way to highlight the dramatically redesigned proportions of BMW’s cars as the marque evolved into a world-class performance brand. Although the color has gradually disappeared over time, it represents an integral chapter in BMW’s history and has earned a revered status among collectors around the world.

Paying homage to this iconic color, Ronnie Fieg designed a one-of-one bespoke version of the car that is inextricably linked to Inka Orange—the 3.0 CSi. Using a 1972 BMW 3.0 CSi as the foundation, Fieg and BMW oversaw a complete frame-off restoration, with the body stripped to bare metal before being KTL-treated and repainted. The car was meticulously rebuilt using original components sourced from various BMW archives, including the M30 Big Six engine, transmission, rear axle, suspension, brakes, and more. The custom caramel leather interior features an embossed Kith monogram throughout, complemented by fully restored instrumentation and wood trim.

When production of the 3.0 CSi’s E9 chassis concluded in 1975, BMW introduced the E24 6 Series. As a nod to the 3.0 CSi’s direct descendant, Ronnie Fieg also designed a one-of-one bespoke 1987 BMW M6 E24. Bridging two generations of BMW grand tourers, Fieg applied the iconic Inka Orange paint color to this model as well. The M6 underwent a complete rotisserie restoration that preserved the car’s original character while incorporating Kith design details and discreet modern enhancements. Like the 3.0 CSi, the M6’s body was stripped to bare metal and fully rebuilt, including its S38 inline-six engine, Getrag 5-speed manual transmission, differential, suspension, brakes, OEM BBS Style 5 wheels, and more. The interior continues the color story, crafted from caramel leather and finished with an embossed Kith monogram throughout.

Both bespoke models represent the next chapter in Kith and BMW’s ongoing color story and serve as the central inspiration for the larger collection.
